Most capsule filling machines (commercially known as capsule filling machines) or equipment that fills capsules with the desired powder or liquid will vary in size and output. However, the main difference between the types of capsule filling machines is how they work and the products they produce.
Capsule filling machines can be divided into two categories according to whether they have the ability to produce the following products: soft gel capsules and hard gel capsules.
Hard gel capsules, also known as 2-piece hard gel capsules, because they have a body and capsule that lock together and can be filled with powder, pills, tablets and/or microtablets.
Softgels can be filled with liquid or gelatin. Fish oil is a common softgel.
Based on your current machine and needs, it should be easy to determine what type of capsules you need your machine to produce. Work with your team to find out if you need your machine to fill capsules with powder, pills, tablets, liquid, gelatin or multiple types of fillers and choose from the various types of capsule fillers accordingly.
Semi-automatic and fully automatic capsulefilling machines
Capsule filling machines are also divided into three categories according to their mode of operation:
Manual wrappers are populated by hand.
In a semi-automatic packaging machine, the loading ring drives the process. PD8, Elanco, and Capsugel are common semi-automatic capsule fillers.
Fully automatic packaging machines use intermittent or continuous motion. Common capsule filling machines that use intermittent motion include machines from Bosch, IMA Zanasi, and Dott Bonapace. MG2 is a common continuous motion capsule filler.
